Our Meet the Team Monday posts are designed to introduce and highlight team members who work with our employees and our affiliates every day. We interviewed 4 employees who represent a variety of different departments and roles. Each person had a unique story to tell, and we’ve learned some pretty interesting things about our teammates along the way (we’ve got sailboat racers, globe trekkers, and industry leaders all under the same roof)!
Meet Erica Dolloff, Benefits Coordinator
Erica has been with American Dental Partners since May 2014. Previously, she served as a Benefits Administrator for a Mortgage company.
The transition to ADPI allowed her to take on the challenges and responsibilities of being a part of a large, national organization.
As the Benefits Coordinator, Erica supports full cycle benefits processes including background checks, benefit orientations, and employee data maintenance. She is also a key member of the ADPI Wellness Program Committee.
What’s your favorite part about coming to work?
I like that my role allows me to problem solve. I get to work closely with our affiliates, and each day brings new challenges and opportunities.
What have you learned by working with some of our affiliates?
That there is much more to dentistry than just cleaning teeth! I’ve gained a new appreciation for dental professionals, and have a lot of respect for what they do. Our doctors are so caring, and there’s a lot that goes into their daily routine.
Why did you choose a career in Human Resources?
In college, I knew I wanted to do something in a business setting. After taking a few Human Resources courses, it really seemed like a good fit for my personality. This role requires you to have really strong customer service skills. You have to listen to the employees and gain their trust, and I’m happy to help them get the answers they need and make sure they are using their benefits to their full advantage.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Knowing that I have helped someone is the best part of my day. If I can take an employee that may be confused or upset, and at the end of the conversation they are informed and feel more at ease, I know that I’ve helped them on an issue that is truly important to them.
On to the Fun Stuff…
What’s your favorite hobby?
Skiing. I probably ski every weekend in the winter, and I take an annual weekend trip with a group of close friends.
Where was your last vacation?
I took a trip to Peru for two weeks – and it was amazing! My favorite part of the trip was going to Rainbow Mountain. We started traveling to the mountain at 2 am with a 3 hour bus ride. I was so excited I couldn’t even sleep – even though I tried. After we arrived at the village for breakfast, we took horses through the valleys and climbed all the way up to 16,000 feet. If the views weren’t enough to take my breath away – the elevation certainly did!
What’s your favorite way to distress or unwind?
Being outdoors is the best for me. When I’m hiking a trail or skiing down a mountain, everything else seems to fade away, and it’s a refreshing escape from the city life in Boston.
